The Twisty Peacocks and the Carnival of Colours

Deep within the warm tropical valleys of the Marble Kingdom stood the dazzling city of Featherglow — a magical place filled with rainbow gardens, sparkling fountains, music stages, and giant spinning lanterns that lit the sky every evening.

And nobody brought more colour to Featherglow than the famous Twisty Peacocks.

The Twisty Peacocks were a group of elegant marbles covered in swirling patterns of blue, green, gold, purple, and emerald colours that shimmered like peacock feathers in sunlight. Whenever they rolled, their spiral markings seemed to twist and dance across their shells like living artwork.

They loved music.

They loved dancing.

And most of all…

They loved showing off.

Bernard the talking dog once described them as:

“Very talented… and absolutely incapable of entering a room quietly.”

Every year, Featherglow held the magnificent Carnival of Colours — the grandest celebration in the Marble Kingdom. Thousands of marbles travelled from distant lands to watch the Twisty Peacocks perform their famous Spiral Dance beneath the glowing lantern skies.

Jack Mitchell arrived just as the carnival preparations were beginning.

Bright banners stretched across the streets.

Bands played lively music in every square.

Giant flower floats rolled through the city.

And everywhere, the Twisty Peacocks practised spinning routines while arguing dramatically about costumes.

“No, no, NO!” cried one Peacock marble. “More glitter!”

“You already used three barrels of glitter!” shouted another.

“That was rehearsal glitter!”

Bernard immediately looked concerned.

“I already dislike this place.”

The leader of the Twisty Peacocks rolled gracefully toward Jack. Her name was Lady Plume, and her shell sparkled with deep sapphire spirals and golden feather-like patterns.

“We are honoured you’ve come,” she said proudly.

“What’s all the excitement about?” asked Jack.

Lady Plume smiled.

“Tonight we unveil the Celestial Lantern.”

At the very centre of the carnival stood a giant floating crystal lantern said to contain magical light from the stars themselves. Once lit, it would illuminate Featherglow with swirling colours for seven nights straight.

But as evening approached, strange things began happening.

The lantern lights flickered.

Music boxes stopped playing.

And colourful decorations across the city slowly lost their colour completely.

Flowers faded grey.

Banners turned dull white.

Even the Twisty Peacocks’ shimmering patterns became faint and pale.

The carnival crowd gasped in horror.

“My spirals!” cried one Peacock dramatically.

“I look ordinary!”

Bernard quietly whispered to Jack:

“This may be the most dangerous situation they’ve ever faced.”

Lady Plume looked worried.

“The Celestial Lantern is losing its colour magic.”

Suddenly a loud crack echoed across the carnival square.

CRACK!

A dark shadow swept across the rooftops above them.

Then came a mocking laugh.

“The Carnival of Colours is finished!”

High atop the central tower stood a mysterious marble dressed in dark silver robes.

The Shade Spinner.

Long ago, the Shade Spinner had been one of the carnival’s greatest artists. But after losing a famous Spiral Dance competition, he became bitter and vanished from Featherglow forever.

Now he had returned with a machine called the Colour Drainer — a giant device hidden beneath the city that was stealing every colour from the carnival.

“If Featherglow has no colour,” he sneered, “the Twisty Peacocks will have nothing left to celebrate!”

The city lights dimmed further.

More colour vanished from the streets.

Jack looked serious.

“We have to stop that machine.”

Using hidden tunnels beneath Featherglow, Jack, Bernard, Lady Plume, and several Twisty Peacocks raced below the city toward the old carnival catacombs.

The underground chambers were enormous.

Old dance halls.

Ancient lantern rooms.

And giant spinning mirrors that reflected faint traces of stolen colour.

Deep below the carnival square they discovered the Colour Drainer.

The machine pulsed with dark energy while streams of glowing colour spiralled into giant crystal tanks.

The Shade Spinner stood beside it proudly.

“You can’t stop progress,” he laughed.

Lady Plume rolled forward bravely.

“This isn’t progress. It’s jealousy.”

The Shade Spinner activated the machine fully.

The entire underground chamber began draining colour from everything around it. Even Jack’s clothes started fading grey.

Bernard looked down in horror.

“My fur looks beige!”

The only way to stop the machine was to overload it with pure carnival energy.

Lady Plume smiled suddenly.

“The Spiral Dance.”

The Twisty Peacocks immediately understood.

Right there inside the underground chamber, they began performing their legendary dance. Faster and faster they spun, their glowing spiral patterns creating waves of brilliant colour that flooded through the tunnels.

Blue.

Gold.

Emerald.

Purple.

Silver.

The entire chamber lit up like fireworks.

The Colour Drainer began shaking violently.

The Shade Spinner panicked.

“That’s impossible!”

Then suddenly…

BOOOOOOM!

The machine exploded into a giant burst of rainbow light.

Colour rushed back through Featherglow instantly.

The flowers bloomed brighter than before.

The banners shimmered again.

And the Celestial Lantern burst to life above the city, flooding the night sky with swirling colours.

The Carnival of Colours was saved.

That evening, the Twisty Peacocks performed the greatest Spiral Dance in Featherglow history beneath glowing lanterns and fireworks.

Even Bernard eventually admitted it was beautiful.

Though he still spent the rest of the night covered in glitter.

“No matter how much I brush,” he sighed, “it keeps coming back.”
