Sir Oswald and the Temple of the Scarlet Moon

Far beyond the twisting jungles of South America, hidden beneath towering trees older than the Marble Kingdom itself, stood the forgotten Temple of the Scarlet Moon.
Very few marbles had ever seen it.
Even fewer had returned.
Because deep within the temple lived the mysterious guardian marble known throughout the world as Sir Oswald.
Sir Oswald was unlike any other marble in the kingdom. His shell shimmered with deep crimson reds, midnight blacks, glowing silver streaks, and tiny golden sparks that appeared whenever danger was near. Legends claimed the jungle itself whispered warnings directly to him through the wind and trees.
And most legends were true.
One humid evening, Jack Mitchell, Imogen, Lenny, and Bernard the talking dog arrived beside the great Amazon River after hearing strange reports from nearby villages.
Entire sections of jungle had begun glowing red at night.
Ancient statues were moving.
And strange roaring sounds echoed through the forest beneath the full moon.
Bernard stared nervously into the jungle shadows.
“I would like to officially announce,” he muttered, “that this place is horrifying.”
Suddenly…
RUSTLE… RUSTLE… SNAP!
A shadow moved silently through the trees.
Then Sir Oswald rolled calmly from the darkness.
His glowing crimson shell reflected the moonlight like burning fire.
“You came quickly,” he said quietly.
Jack smiled.
“We heard there was trouble.”
Sir Oswald nodded gravely.
“The Scarlet Moon is rising.”
Nobody had any idea what that meant.
Unfortunately, Sir Oswald explained everything moments later.
Long ago, the Temple of the Scarlet Moon protected an ancient relic known as the Jungle Heart Crystal — a powerful stone capable of controlling the balance of life throughout the rainforest.
But once every hundred years, during the rise of the Scarlet Moon, the crystal became unstable.
If darkness reached the crystal first, the jungle itself would awaken violently.
Trees would attack.
Rivers would flood.
Ancient stone guardians would rise once more.
Bernard blinked slowly.
“I preferred the pig emergency.”
Sir Oswald explained that someone had already entered the forbidden temple searching for the crystal.
Naturally…
it was Evil Sprocket.
Again.
This time Sprocket had built a giant machine called the Moon Magnetiser 9000.
“I SHALL HARNESS THE POWER OF THE JUNGLE!” his voice echoed dramatically through the trees.
Lenny sighed.
“He really enjoys giant machine names.”
The group raced deeper into the rainforest following glowing red vines winding between ancient ruins.
The jungle became stranger the farther they travelled.
Gigantic flowers opened as they passed.
Stone faces appeared carved into cliffs.
Strange glowing insects floated through the air like tiny lanterns.
Then suddenly—
BOOOOOOM!
The ground shook violently.
Massive stone warriors burst from beneath the jungle floor with glowing red eyes and enormous crystal spears.
“The Temple Guardians,” whispered Sir Oswald.
The ancient guardians marched toward them while jungle vines wrapped around nearby trees like giant snakes.
Jack and Imogen dodged through collapsing ruins while Lenny used his gadgets to disable several crystal traps hidden along the temple pathways.
Meanwhile Bernard mostly shouted:
“THIS IS AN EXTREMELY BAD HOLIDAY!”
Finally they reached the Temple of the Scarlet Moon itself.
It was magnificent.
A gigantic pyramid rose above the jungle canopy beneath the glowing red moon while waterfalls crashed around glowing crystal staircases.
At the very top stood Evil Sprocket beside the Jungle Heart Crystal.
Huge energy cables connected the crystal directly to the Moon Magnetiser 9000.
The machine pulsed dangerously.
The jungle trembled violently around them.
“You are too late!” Sprocket shouted proudly.
“The jungle shall obey ME!”
Unfortunately…
the unstable machine overloaded immediately.
Naturally.
CRAAAAAA-KABOOOOOOOM!
A giant shockwave exploded across the jungle.
Trees ripped from the ground.
The Temple Guardians roared.
And the Jungle Heart Crystal cracked apart with glowing red energy spiralling into the skies.
Then the entire rainforest began waking up.
Gigantic roots burst through the temple floor.
Ancient stone statues moved.
And deep within the jungle…
something enormous growled.
Sir Oswald stared toward the darkness.
“The Crimson Beast,” he whispered.
From the trees emerged a gigantic jaguar-shaped creature formed entirely from glowing jungle vines, crystal stone, and scarlet energy.
Its golden eyes burned brightly beneath the Scarlet Moon.
Even Sprocket looked terrified.
“That,” Bernard announced firmly, “is absolutely not normal.”
The Crimson Beast roared so loudly the jungle shook.
Sir Oswald rolled slowly forward.
“It protects the jungle,” he realised.
The creature was not evil.
It was trying to stop the destruction of the Jungle Heart Crystal.
As vines exploded around the temple, Sir Oswald climbed directly toward the cracked crystal itself while Jack and Lenny shut down the unstable Moon Magnetiser machine.
Imogen used her glowing powers to calm the crystal energy while the Crimson Beast guarded them from collapsing temple walls.
Finally Sir Oswald placed both hands gently upon the Jungle Heart Crystal.
Closing his eyes, he listened carefully to the jungle whispers around him.
The wind.
The rivers.
The trees.
The animals.
The heartbeat of the forest itself.
Then slowly…
the glowing cracks began healing.
WHOOOOOOOSHHHH!
A brilliant emerald wave spread peacefully across the jungle.
The violent vines relaxed.
The Temple Guardians became still once more.
And the Crimson Beast slowly lowered its great head respectfully before vanishing back into the jungle shadows.
The Scarlet Moon faded peacefully overhead.
The rainforest had been saved.
As sunrise spread golden light across the jungle canopy, Sir Oswald stood quietly beside the repaired crystal.
Jack smiled.
“You always seem calm during impossible situations.”
Sir Oswald gave a small smile.
“The jungle teaches patience.”
Bernard looked around nervously.
“The jungle also contains giant crystal jaguars.”
Before the group departed, Sir Oswald handed Jack a tiny glowing red jungle stone shaped like a leaf.
“What does it do?” asked Jack.
Sir Oswald looked toward the endless rainforest.
“It reminds you that the greatest strength is protecting the things that cannot protect themselves.”
And somewhere deep within the ancient jungle…
the whispers of the Scarlet Moon could still be heard beneath the trees.
