Planet Ming and the Crystal Dragon Empire

Far beyond the outer stars of the Marble Kingdom floated a magnificent world filled with towering jade temples, glowing crystal rivers, and giant flying dragons.

It was known across the universe as the Empire of Planet Ming.

Planet Ming was one of the most elegant marbles ever seen. His shell shimmered with swirling jade greens, golds, ruby reds, silver mist, and deep cosmic blues that looked like ancient dragon fire trapped inside glass. Golden dragon symbols spiralled across his surface, glowing softly beneath moonlight.

Planet Ming ruled peacefully over the Crystal Dragon Empire, a world famous for wisdom, balance, and magical sky dragons that soared between floating mountain temples.

Every evening the skies above Planet Ming filled with glowing lanterns drifting beside enormous crystal dragons.

Bernard the talking dog later described it as:

“Possibly the fanciest planet in existence.”

One peaceful evening at Bablock Hythe, Jack Mitchell and Imogen watched a strange green dragon-shaped comet streak silently across the sky.

Then suddenly a glowing jade portal opened beside the river.

Out stepped Planet Ming wearing long golden robes decorated with tiny crystal dragons.

“We need your help,” he said urgently.

Apparently the Heart Dragon Crystal — the ancient magical gem protecting the Crystal Dragon Empire — had begun losing power.

Without it, the floating mountains holding the empire above the clouds would collapse into the cosmic storms below.

Worse still…

someone had stolen the Dragon Key needed to stabilise the crystal.

Naturally the team boarded Planet Ming’s magnificent Sky Dragon Ship and travelled across the stars toward the empire.

The sight was breathtaking.

Gigantic jade mountains floated through glowing clouds.

Crystal waterfalls poured into the sky itself.

And enormous dragons glided peacefully between golden temple towers.

Even Bernard was impressed.

“I shall never financially recover from seeing somewhere this beautiful.”

But beneath the beauty, danger was spreading.

Several floating islands had already begun sinking slowly.

Storm clouds twisted violently beneath the empire.

And frightened dragons roared across the skies.

At the centre of the empire stood the Temple of Eternal Wings where the giant Heart Dragon Crystal flickered weakly with dark cracks spreading through its surface.

“The Dragon Key vanished three nights ago,” explained Planet Ming grimly.

Lenny examined strange metal scorch marks beside the crystal chamber.

Everyone sighed.

“Evil Sprocket,” said Jack.

Of course.

Deep beneath the floating mountains, Evil Sprocket had built a gigantic machine called the Dragon Power Extractor.

Naturally.

Using the stolen Dragon Key, he planned to harness dragon crystal energy to power an unstoppable fleet of flying machines.

Unfortunately the unstable energy had awakened something ancient beneath the empire.

The Shadow Dragon.

Long ago the enormous creature had been sealed beneath the floating mountains after nearly destroying the Crystal Dragon Empire centuries earlier.

Now dark energy cracks spread beneath the skies as the creature slowly awakened.

Then came the roar.

RAAAAAAAWWWWRRRR!

The floating mountains trembled violently.

Massive shadow wings burst through the storm clouds below.

And the gigantic Shadow Dragon rose into the skies covered in black crystal scales and glowing red eyes.

Bernard immediately hid beneath a ceremonial table.

“I preferred the fancy lanterns.”

The Shadow Dragon attacked wildly, smashing floating bridges and sending storm waves crashing through the sky temples.

Even the crystal dragons struggled against it.

Working together, Jack, Imogen, Planet Ming, and the empire’s dragon riders soared through the skies aboard giant crystal dragons while Lenny tried shutting down Evil Sprocket’s extractor machine.

Meanwhile Planet Ming realised the Shadow Dragon was not attacking from hatred.

It was in pain.

The stolen Dragon Key had disrupted the balance between light and shadow dragon magic.

“We must restore the balance,” Planet Ming said quietly.

As the skies erupted into chaos, Planet Ming bravely flew directly toward the raging Shadow Dragon aboard the empire’s oldest crystal dragon, Emerald Flame.

The enormous creature roared furiously.

But instead of fighting it, Planet Ming carefully raised the stolen Dragon Key toward the Heart Dragon Crystal glowing high above the storm clouds.

“Light and shadow both belong in the sky,” he declared.

The crystal dragons joined together in a giant spiral around the Heart Crystal while Imogen channelled glowing light energy into the damaged dragon magic.

Finally—

WHOOOOOOOSHHHH!

A magnificent wave of jade and gold energy exploded across the empire.

The floating mountains stabilised instantly.

The storm clouds vanished.

The Heart Dragon Crystal blazed brighter than ever before.

And the Shadow Dragon slowly transformed into a peaceful silver dragon before disappearing into the clouds.

The Crystal Dragon Empire had been saved.

That evening the skies filled with thousands of floating lanterns while crystal dragons danced through the stars above glowing jade temples.

Planet Ming hosted a grand celebration with music, fireworks, and enormous golden feasts.

Even Bernard admitted the dragon-shaped desserts were excellent.

Before Jack returned home, Planet Ming handed him a tiny jade dragon crystal glowing softly with golden light.

“What does it do?” asked Jack.

Planet Ming smiled wisely.

“It reminds you that true strength comes from balance, not power.”

Bernard nodded thoughtfully while watching dragons soar through the night sky.

“I must admit,” he said quietly, “space dragons are considerably better than haunted caves.”
